Dr. Eddie Hulten is the Director of Imaging at Brown University Health Cardiovascular Institute in Providence, Rhode Island, and Professor of Medicine and Medical Science at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He serves as Program Director for the Advanced Non-invasive Cardiac Imaging Fellowship. His career interests focus on the clinical practice, research, and teaching of clinical cardiology and cardiac imaging in echocardiography, CT, MRI, and Nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Hulten graduated with honors with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry and life sciences from the US Military Academy at West Point, with his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He also earned a master’s degree in public health in epidemiology from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
He completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases, both at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He also completed a clinical and research fellowship in advanced noninvasive cardiovascular imaging at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston.
He held academic appointments at Harvard Medical School and the Uniformed Services University, where he became a professor of medicine. He practiced at myriad sites in the US and worldwide with the US Department of Defense and reached the rank of Army colonel prior to retiring and moving to Rhode Island with his four children and wife, Dr. Sara Petrillo, who is a Radiologist.
